Social Media Expert: It's Ridiculous for Police to Agree to Suspect's Demand for Facebook 'Likes'

May 24, 2019 - /PressAdvantage/ - Portland SEO's Augusto Beato insists that there should be a law regulating the police in abiding by a suspect's whimsical demand as a condition for surrendering, especially for something trivial similar to Facebook likes.

Beato was reacting to news that Jose Simms, 29, who is wanted for failure to appear in court was able to negotiate with the Torrington Police Department to boost Facebook likes to a mugshot post for up to 15,000 as a condition for his surrender.

Torrington Police Lt. Brett Johnson revealed that Simms “negotiated” with him through Facebook about his required number of likes.

The Torrington Police Department was eventually able to get over 22,000 “likes” within roughly 24 hours, more than satisfying Simms' crave for social media popularity.

Beato pointed out that many would find Torrington Police Department's behavior in falling for such a ploy as hilarious.

"It is Simms' duty to surrender unconditionally and face charges," avers Beato, who is the CEO of Portland SEO. "Now, Simms is enjoying a higher degree of popularity that he craved for while the Torrington Police Department is left empty-handed."

There are seven arrest warrants for Simms, who cops suspect is hiding in New York.

Hip-hop star Nicki Minaj to perform in Saudi Arabia

Sep 21, 2019

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Saudi Arabia said Wednesday that hip-hop star Nicki Minaj will perform in the ultraconservative kingdom as it sheds decades of restrictions on entertainment. The female rapper is known for her outlandish, provocative style and hits like "Anaconda," where she raps about her "big fat" backside. Her lyrics are often laced with profanities and her skin-bearing music videos often include twerking. Christian groups criticized her 2012 Grammy Awards performance, which included dancing priests and an exorcism. Saudi organizers announced she would be the headline act at the Jeddah World Fest on July 18. The concert, which...

Kraft, a longtime supporter of Jewish and Israeli causes, can expect a warm welcome during a nearly weeklong visit. In addition to collecting the $1 million award, he is scheduled to have lunch...

Turkey's Erdogan witness in footballer Mesut Ozil's wedding

Sep 21, 2019

ISTANBUL — Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was in the wedding party as Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil tied the knot on Friday. State-run Anadolu news agency said Erdogan and his wife, Emine, were legal witnesses for Ozil, who married model, actress and former Miss Turkey Amine Gulse in Istanbul. Secular Turkish weddings require a witness each for the bride and groom. Ozil, a German player of Turkish descent, quit Germany's soccer team last year after he was criticized for posing for a photograph with Erdogan before the World Cup. In his international retirement announcement, Ozil accused the German football federation,...

CAIRO — A prominent Egyptian militant wanted for scores of terror attacks in his country was handed over to Egypt on Wednesday by Libyan forces loyal to a commander pushing to take the capital of Tripoli and flown to Cairo. Egyptian TV networks aired footage of a blindfolded Hisham el-Ashmawi, a former army officer turned militant, landing in Cairo and being taken off a military plane. El-Ashmawi was captured last October in the Libyan city of Derna, a longtime bastion of Islamic militants, by commander Khalifa Hifter's self-styled Libyan National Army. Hifter's forces now are battling to take Tripoli, fighting...
